I really had no idea, when I started this blog, that it was going to have the impact it has.  I thought that maybe some people would read it, and maybe I would crack someone up, or make them want to eat fruit instead of cake.

So on Facebook today, I noticed that a friend had tagged me in a post.  I have known Kari for YEARS – we’ve gone to the same church since we were kids.  She is totally awesome – one of those people you just want to be friends with as SOON as you meet her, you know?

The post?  She started a blog.  And I was part of her inspiration!  I mean, how cool is that??  I TOTALLY teared up when I saw it – I am just too proud for words.  The title of her first post is so beautiful: “This time not for you, but just for me…”  That’s EXACTLY what this is about.  Yes, I’ve made my journey about other people by posting it all over the interwebs.  But ultimately, it’s for me, my health, and my well-being.

You got it, Kari.  Keep it up, girl – we’re all in this together!

I will leave you with what I DID NOT eat at work today:

I sat there and smelled it, but I did not eat it.  It was like not touching the button that says “Push This Button”.

Or “Don’t Push This Button”.

Whatever is more difficult.

  1. You’re such an inspiration, Liz! I recently started a new program (I’ve been struggling with weight issues my whole life) and have lost 7 lbs. Thank you for being so open and sharing your journey. I love reading your blog!

  2. Did you know that when you smell delicious food (read this on a scientific study somewhere), it makes your brain think you’re hungry? So try not to even SMELL the cake! You might be susceptible!
